There are many isotonic drinks available on the market that are designed to provide quick hydration and an appropriate level of electrolytes. In order to avoid unnecessary additives, you can prepare isotonic drinks at home. That's easy!

Isotonic drinks are popular products among athletes and physically active people. They help hydrate the body and replenish electrolytes lost during intense physical exercise.

There are many isotonic drinks available on the market that are designed to provide quick hydration and an appropriate level of electrolytes. These products often contain artificial sweeteners, dyes and aromas in their compositions, which give them an attractive taste and characteristic neon colors. In order to avoid unnecessary additives, you can prepare isotonic drinks at home. Thanks to this, we can obtain drinks with a pure composition that are cheaper and much tastier than their store versions.

When wanting to prepare homemade isotonic drinks, it is important to be guided by such proportions that the resulting mixtures are actually absorbed faster than water. The ideal isotonic drink should contain the following ingredients in proportions:

  • 1 liter of water,
  • 70-80 grams of simple sugars, i.e. 3 tablespoons of honey,
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt.

You can also enrich them by adding the juice of one lemon or lime and flavorings such as mint, ginger, lemon balm, parsley, basil. It does not matter what kind of water we use or where we get the other ingredients from. The most important thing is the above-mentioned ratio of ingredients, and flavorings can be our own creative invention.

Below you will find three suggestions for isotonic drinks:

1. Pineapple isotonic drink

  • 500 ml of water
  • 500 ml of pineapple juice
  • a tablespoon of honey
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • optionally a few mint leaves

2. Fruit isotonic drink with coconut water

  • 500 ml of coconut water
  • 500 ml of any juice
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • lemon juice to taste

3. Isotonic drink based on your favorite tea

  • 1 liter of chilled tea
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • optionally fresh herbs to taste

Grind the herbs, mix all the ingredients thoroughly. You can add lemon or lime juice to taste.

Despite the fact that isotonic drinks are an excellent complementary drink for physically active people, people with certain conditions, such as hypertension or kidney disease, should not consume these drinks without prior consultation with a doctor.

Natural isotonic drinks are a great alternative to ready-made drinks, which often contain artificial additives. Easy to prepare, economical and tasty, they help hydrate and regenerate the body, while providing valuable nutrients. Reach for natural solutions and take care of your health in a conscious and ecological way!
